  • Overview

    Provide administrative and program support within the membership department under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director of Membership Services.  The Member Unit Program Specialist will assist the APHA’s Student Assembly, Forums, Caucuses and APHA Committees.  Direct and implement the organization’s online community strategy.  The individual is responsible for (student) member engagement campaigns and programs.  Provide support to the Director of Membership on special projects.  Work with the Membership Marketing Manager on administrative tasks as specified by the Director.

    Responsibilities

    COMMUNICATION – APHA Connect (online community platform): Manage engagement and activity to foster relationships within the APHA membership.  Provide technical support and trouble-shoots problems with APHA IT and vendor.  Teach APHA leaders and staff on using APHA Connect.  Organize and administer webinars for APHA member groups and leaders.  PROGRAMMING – Build relationships and creates activities across the member units to strengthen public health practice, build a public health movement and align organizational capacity and infrastructure.  Forums: Support Forums with online communitiesUpdate Forum web pages in Sitecore.  Student Assembly: Administer program development for fifteen subcommittees, develop mentoring program strategies, organize scholarships for 50 students to attend APHA annual meeting, coordinate student assembly budgets; collects and processes expenses/reimbursements,  distributes budgets and account balances.  Support student development efforts.  Caucus Collaborative: Schedule conference calls; coordinates Caucus Collaborative meeting and catering at APHA annual meeting.  Update APHA Caucus website.  Collects and maintains Caucus MOUs and agreements.  MEMBERSHIP RECRUITMENT & ENGAGEMENT: Assist with ongoing programs and marketing activities to retain current student members and recruit new student members.  Compiles survey results to be reviewed by staff and leadersManage Student Assembly’s national campus liaison program.  MEMBERSHIP – OTHER: Assist with APHA monthly renewal invoice.  Coordinate data files in iMIS and Informz working with outside vendors as necessary.  Prepare reports on an as needed basis.  Schedule conference calls and meetings through the Doodle Poll platform as needed.  Update membership iMIS database records.  Provides overflow coverage phone/email inquiries in the absence of Membership Specialist and Membership Marketing Manager staff as needed.

    Qualifications

    Undergraduate university degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience.  Familiarity with member-driven, non-profit organization preferred.  Strong communication skills required, i.e. written and oral.  Attention to detail is a must.  Social media and online community management is needed.  Experience with Google Hangout and Adobe Connect will be beneficial. Computer proficiency required in Microsoft software and the use of iMIS database preferred.  Occasional weekend or evening work is expected.

     

    Hours: 35 hours a week, full-time, Mon- Fri. (daytime).  Number of openings: 1.
